Casa Dulce is located on the tip of Cabo Matapalo, (see map below) which is located in the southern zone, just north of Panama, on the Pacific Ocean. We are located at the mouth of the Gulfo Dulce (which means Sweet Gulf) which is the gateway to the Costa Rican National Park Corcovado. Many tourists come to this area specifically to go to the park...it's quite an adventure. More information is available upon request with regard to the National Park Corcovado.

Our house is located 18 kilometers (11.2 miles) south of Puerto Jimenez and can be reached by taxi within 20-30 minutes depending on the condition of the road. The road to town is very beautiful, but can be very bumpy!

Puerto Jimenez is located on the Gulfo Dulce, across the gulf from Golfito (the area's largest town). You can get to Puerto Jimenez by bus, plane, or rent car. The choice is yours. A rent car is a nice luxury, but is definitely not an necessity. Once you get to Casa Dulce, you really don't need to go back to town, except for groceries or maybe to eat at one of the many fine restaurants in town. Everything on the Osa (which is what the tip of the peninsula is called) is within a walking distance (if you're in good shape).

There are two near-by waterfalls, and jungle adventures with "Jungle Andy" (our local jungle guide) to keep you busy (if that is your pleasure). Swimming, beach combing, jungle exploration...it's limitless. All you need is the desire to do it.

Getting Here

1. A 8-10 hour bus ride for about $7.00

2. Rent a car and enjoy a beautiful drive (either on the Pan American Highway or the Pacific Coast road). A rental car is always nice to have, but isn't necessary. It's always convenient to be able to get around once you are at the beach if you want to drive into town or just go for nice scenic drives in the mountains.

3. Catch a 12-15 seat plane into Puerto Jimenez and then catch a taxi for $25.00 out to the property. The taxi driver will allow you to shop before going out to the house and arrangements will be made to pick you up when it is time to go the airport for your return flight to San Jose.
